DAAWGS!!!

Today we begin the family portion of this adventure down in New Zealand.  We’ve picked up Brian (& all his stuff) after his last exam at the Univ of Auckland.

We started this phase of the trip off with a bang as Brian and I upgraded our flight status… no, we did not upgrade to Business Class… we went further and upgraded to Adrenaline Class as we each took a 30 minute flight in an aerobatic airplane.  I’ve always been a big air show fan and have taken the boys to the Hillsboro airshow at home… and I’ve dreamed of being in the cockpit… of a Blue Angel of course, but actually any plane would do.

So today we were the airshow as we took our flights in a beautiful Xtra 300… a great aerobatic airplane with a bubble canopy that provided incredible views as did rolls, spins, loops, dives, vertical climbs… best roller coaster ride ever & a bit more terrifying knowing that you are not on a track.  My head was spinning when we returned for our landing.  Yet another treat from down under in the land of sensible liability rules.
